LHCb RICH HPD (Homepage)

Project Leader: T.Gys

Following the choice of the pixel-HPD as LHCb-RICH photon detector, the production of ~500 tubes has been organized and started in 2004, and will continue in 2005 and 2006. The PH-DT-TP section is in charge of the overall project organization and management, pixel-HPD development and characterization, in close collaboration with the following CERN support groups:

  • PH-ED: readout electronics design and development, readout chip production and bump-bonding testing;
  • PH-MIC: bump-bonding organization and coordination with ALICE ITS;
  • PH-DT-DI: clean room infrastructure (SDF) support for wafer and bump-bonded assembly probing;
  • PH-DT-TP: laboratory support for quantum efficiency measurements;
  • TS-MME: support for vacuum bake-out tests and related metallurgy studies;
  • TS-DEM: support for PCB fabrication and gold electroplating of ceramic carrier.
  •
