R&D

The group is pursuing focused detector R&D in a few technological areas. Generally the developments are aimed at applications in future HEP experiments.

Since 2008, the group is working on a number of activities defined in the PH R&D work packages ("White Paper"). The packages target primarily subjects of common interest for experiments at a luminosity-upgraded LHC (Super-LHC).The work is performed in direct collaboration with the LHC experiments. The group is involved in the packages:

A small amount of resources is devoted to an R&D activity related to photodetectors in a medically oriented project:

The group participates in the AX-PET collaboration (9 European and American institutes), which has the goal to demonstrate the feasibility of a novel Axial PET camera. Responsible person: C. Joram

R&D on the X-HPD, a spherical Hybrid Photon Detector which we proposed in the framework of the C2GT initiative, is currently suspended. Responsible person: C. Joram
